COURSES IN IRELAND
Courses R -W
Rosapenna Golf Links, Rosapenna, Co. Donegal
One of the lesser-known Irish links gems, Rosapenna has recently undergone
some major design changes and in its Sandy Hills Course, Rosapenna
now boasts one of the finest, if also secluded links in the country.
|
|
Rosses
Point (County Sligo) Golf Club, Rosses Point, Co. Sligo |
Home
to the West of Ireland Amateur Championships since 1923, Rosses Point
is only given due credit by those in the know. This is a course that rubbishes
the belief that Irelands top links courses are located further south.
|
|
Royal
County Down Golf Club, Newcastle, Co. Down |
Rated
among the best golf courses in the world, Royal County Down is beautiful,
natural and tough. Narrow fairways, slick greens, blind shots, gorse,
heather and bunkers all conspire to provide a majestic golfing experience.

|
Royal
Dublin Golf Club, Dollymount, Dublin 3 |
With
its relatively flat, out and back layout, Royal Dublin may be different
from some traditional links but it still rates among the very best. Make
your score on the front nine, as the prevailing wind will test on the
homeward stretch . |
|
Royal
Portrush Golf Club, Portrush, Co. Antrim |
Designed
by Harry Colt, the Dunluce Course at Portrush is one of the very best
links courses in the world. A must-play in the area, there are many who
rate this as the best links in Ireland and to be honest, its easy
to see why. |
|
The
Island Golf Club, Donabate, Co. Dublin |
Why
this course is not as revered as the likes of Portmarnock and Ballybunion
is a mystery. The Island falls into the must-play category and the fact
that it has rarely been given the credit it deserves, does not diminish
the experience. |
|
Tralee
Golf Club, Barrow, Co. Kerry |
Designed
by Arnold Palmer, you will rarely come across a more spectacular golf
course than Tralee. Not that the front-nine are poor but the homeward
journey is one of the finest nines in the world. A real must-play links! |
|
Waterville
Golf Links, Waterville, Co. Kerry |
A
stunning golf links as testing as it is beautiful, Waterville deserves
its rating as one of the worlds very best links. And if you think
the opening 16 holes are good, be sure to take in the scenery on the 17th
from "Mulcahys Peak". |
